3UK Claims Success With Ad-Supported Video

Fri Jun 22, 2007 01:28 AM by James Quintana Pearce

3UK has said that more than 6 million streams of mobile video have been viewed by more than 600,000 customers (more than 10 percent of the companies customer base) since the company launched the free ad-supported service in April. The videos are bracketed by ads with advertisers such as Microsoft, Lynx, Ministry of Sound, Intel and Cisco reports The Guardian (reg). Breaking news and weather are the most popular form of content followed by horoscopes and movies. Peak viewing times were the morning commute from 7-9 am and in the evening from 8-11 pm, and the service is most popular amongst 25-34 year old males and 18-24 year old females. It certainly seems to have attracted attention from customers, and if 3 is happy with the revenue it's generating and the advertisers are happy with the exposure it's a success...
