New App for iPhone and iPod touch Offers Exclusive Network Content, Including Breaking Bad Web-isodes
New York, NY, – April 22, 2009 – AMC today announced its new AMC application is available on the Apple App Store. The free app for iPhone and iPod touch features exclusive content, including cast interviews, behind-the-scenes clips and “making of” footage from the network’s original series Mad Men and Breaking Bad, upcoming original mini-series The Prisoner (premiering in November), AMC News, StoryMakers, and AMC Festivals. To coincide with the current airing of the second season of the Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning series, Breaking Bad, the network is also providing an exclusive behind-the-scenes video starring Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman), for a limited time. The app also gives users access to amctv.com’s popular movie and series blogs, as well as movie news and a quick link to the AMC broadcast schedule.
“We are pleased to be among the first cable networks to launch an app on the App Store,” said Mac McKean, AMC’s VP of digital media. “This launch allows our fans to engage with our originals through a high quality mobile viewing experience on their iPhone or iPod touch, adding another layer to our original storytelling.”
Adding to the sophisticated viewing experience available on iPhone and iPod touch, the AMC app also features a full-screen player with advanced navigation capabilities. One-touch controls take users to an in-video clip control menu so users can continue to watch a clip while simultaneously using a "picture-in-picture" clip browser view to pick their next selection. Additionally, after one clip has completed, the AMC app automatically plays the next one so users can enjoy numerous clips quickly and easily. Other features allow for easy email sharing with friends, and the ability to save favorites to view over and over again.
AMC teamed with Rhythm NewMedia, a leader in developing and monetizing ad-supported mobile video applications, to create and serve the AMC app to iPhone and iPod touch users. The app is supported by interactive pre-roll video advertising, which is being exclusively sold by AMC and Rhythm NewMedia. Lincoln is one of the first app advertisers, using Rhythm’s interactive pre-roll ads to provide one-click access to their iPhone and iPod touch optimized website.
The AMC app is available for free from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/
